10 Highly Effective Ways to Ace your Skype Interview

With the technological advancement come changes in the way companies are conducting their job interviews and Skype-based interviews had become increasingly popular nowadays. In other words, if you are on the lookout for a job, it isn’t always going to be the traditional face-to-face method as there’s a high chance that you’ll get asked for your instant messenger (IM) handle name as preparation is everything.

Before you even start giving out your information, you also need to make sure that you follow all these highly effective ways to ace your Skype interview.

  1. YOUR USERNAME

Make sure your handle name is professional as well as your profile name. A badazz_lady or peepingjacob_4u for example is so much unacceptable.

Upload an appropriate profile picture. It must be you or your most recent picture and not your pet or a celebrity, etc.

Sit Up Straight. Make sure that your body isn’t compressed or slouching, sit up straight and it will project your voice better and it helps to sound more confident.

8. DELIVERY

Speak Clearly and Enunciate. Smile and send a good positive impression at all times. It is more important to articulate your words on phone or video because for some technical reason your voice might not sound the same as in-person meeting even with the best connection. Pay attention on enunciating and the tone of voice.

9. EYE CONTACT

Do your best to look in the camera as it will look like you’re looking at the interviewer. If you look at the monitor, the interviewer will see it as you looking down. It’s the tricky part about Skype interviews, but it’s necessary.

10. HAVE FUN

Lastly, relax and be yourself. Interviewers are looking for cues with the way you interact and they will be able to identify personality traits that show if you are qualified to go on to the next level as a potential candidate. Have a laugh and make them like you, because they won’t necessarily remember your individual answers, they will remember how you make them feel.
